Difference between Xylem and Phloem

Main Difference

Xylem Phloem are the vascular tissues that transport the meals, minerals and water contained in the plant. Xylem transport the water and minerals whereas Phloem transport meals and nutritional vitamins. The actions in Xylem is unidirectional from roots to aerial parts whereas the actions in Phloem are bidirectional.

Xylem

xylemXylem are the vascular plant tissues. They are the important for vascular system. They transport water and minerals from the roots of the plant to the aerial parts. The flow into of water and nutrient is unidirectional from roots to upwards. Xylem makes vascular bundles with phloem for mechanical energy. It contains ineffective tissues at maturity with no cell contents. Xylem has two tracheids and vessels for conducting the water and minerals.

Phloem

phloemPhloem are the vascular Plant tissues. they’re important for vascular system. They transport meals and nutritional vitamins from leaves to the other rising and supporting parts of crops. The flow into of meals and nutritional vitamins is bidirectional. Phloem makes vascular bundles with xylem for mechanical energy. It contains dwelling tissues with out nucleus. Phloem has sieve tubes for conducting meals and nutritional vitamins.

Key Differences

  • Xylem transport the water and minerals whereas Phloem transport meals and nutritional vitamins
  • The actions in Xylem is unidirectional from roots to aerial parts whereas the actions in Phloem are bidirectional.
  • Xylem tissues has star type whereas phloem simply is not star fashioned.
  • Phloem occurs on the outer side of the vascular bundle whereas xylem is on the centre of the vascular bundle
  • Conducting cells in Xylem are ineffective whereas conducting cell in phloem dwell.
  • Xylem tissues current mechanical energy whereas phloem tissues wouldn’t have mechanical energy.
  • Xylem has lignin in its wall whereas phloem don’t has lignin in its wall.
  • Conducting parts in xylem are two kinds i.e. tracheids and vessels whereas conducting parts in phloem is of 1 type i.e. sieve tube.
